Ellie is now on Twitter....

Why not? I've never been one to shy away from the crowd.

Almost Europe

That was an unplanned hiatus...
I started off ridiculously busy. I got to go to the Fleetwood Mac concert! So great. Love them to bits. It was pretty phenomenal to get to see them live. They have been one of my favourite bands my entire life (even when I was 8 and would complain about them dominating the tape player on car trips).

And then I went on a great "camping" trip to the states with a bunch of friends. We stayed at a cabin on the ocean. We had great weather and warm water. After that I became glued to my final project for my colour class. As soon as that was over I finally had some free time, but then I found Twilight the book series. I was forced into it and did not expect in the slightest to enjoy it. I thought the first one was ho hum, but New Moon was fantastic, as were the rest. I did not expect to become addicted. It was like reading candy. And as soon as that was over I became consumed with my next final project.
Last weekend, my friend Nessa, moved to Montreal. So we had a goodbye picnic on the beach. Complete with a blanket, basket, and baguette.

Last weekend was Dhillon's birthday. Months were spent talking about the event. It became quite the joke to see how long it would take him to say something about his birthday each time I saw him... and I see him every other day. Laini came over from the island and wore a fabulous dress that Ness bought from a fill a bag up for $5 sale. Needless to say everyone was quite jealous of the amazing piece. I wish I had taken a full lenght shot of it, but the top will have to do.

I am going to Europe in 3 days! - I need some advice/suggestions

I can't wait to leave. I wish I lived in Europe. Goal in life is to one day live there. I don't care where. All of it is pretty great. This will be my 4th trip over there, but the first with my family (parents, brother, and grandmother). It will definately be a different experience than what I am used to.

I need suggestions on things to do/places to go. I will be spending one week in London. This is where I will probably have to the most free time. I've been there a few times, but no one in my family has, so I will probably back out of some of the more touristy things aka Tower of London etc. I know there is so much cool stuff to do there, I just don't know where to start.

We are then going to spend a week in Paris and Bruges. Again both places I've been, so I'll hopefully be able to sneak away a bit.

And in the final week and a half we are going to Bath, Bristol, York, Stratford Upon Avon and hopefully Liverpool. I haven't been to any of these cities, so any reccomendations would be much appreciated.

Victorious Victoria!

This is a picture of the BC legislature offices that I took in Victoria last weekend. It seemed fitting to put it up since yesterday was the BC Provincial election. Unfortunately we still have the same Premier and the referendum didn't go through.

It was an interesting day yesterday. I worked the election handing out ballots and counting them at the end of the night. It ended up being a 15 hour work day. I didn't mind except that I had the worst partner in the world. She was very anti-NDP (and I am not). I don't care what party she votes for. We were supposed to be non-biased and she kept trying to engage me in a political conversation. She actually told the NDP Scrutineer how much she disliked her party!!! Not a big deal except for that fact that it's illegal!

One of the first things she told me was that she doesn't believe in evolution. She's the first person that I've ever met that doesn't believe in it (or at least is open about having that belief). That's okay. I can deal with people having different opinions than me. I'm pretty easy-going. But she wouldn't shut up about it. I was actually offended. She kept talking about how she wanted to go back in time and shoot Darwin. This wasn't just one conversation either. This was the entire morning and afternoon. More than half the day. And I don't think I can really call it a conversation either since I wasn't talking. I was reading a book and she was still going on and on about it. I was afraid that if I said anything I would just explode. Finally my best friend came over with a geology text book and started giving me a lesson on the history of the world. The girl was very interested in everything Laini was saying and kept agreeing with her over and over and didn't mention evolution once. Thankfully after that she kept her mouth shut on the evolution front. But that didn't stop her from talking every single second. Sorry for the rant. Yesterday was a very long day. Hope I didn't offend anyone.

Bunnies to balance out the negativity! Amy and I went to UVIC while Laini was in class to check out all of the wild bunnies running around campus. I thought she was joking when she told me there were everywhere, but they really were everywhere. And so cute!

We took the classic tourist pictures in front of The Empress hotel. I remember going there for high tea on a field trip one year.
The harbour. The big yellow building with all of the columns is the Victoria wax musem.
We had a lot of fun looking at all of the wax figures.
I had to have my picture taken with the characters from the Wizard of Oz due to my obsession with the musical/book Wicked (which I will probably see twice this year for a total of 4 times!).
Laini and I bought some cheap straw hats with fancy bows at a cute little thrift store.
After the hockey game, we walked across the street to the beach. Amy and I wore some stylish head lamps. Very chic.
We drove up to a lookout point and you can see the beach where Laini lives. Oh, how I would love to live next to water.
I liked Victoria so much more than I thought I would. It was so great to visit Laini and see her new city.

Reasons why this picture is interesting (to me)...
1) It was taken on the same street that I grew up on.
2) My dad's office is on the other side of the parking lot.
3) My cousin used to be the manager of one of the buildings in the shot.
4) I go to the same restaurant frequently.
5) I have some good friends who work there.

Just thought it was funny that Selena Gomez and Taylor Lautner were papped in my neighborhood. I didn't think they were very famous, but they must be a lot bigger than I thought if the paparazzi follows them all the way out to the suburbs.

You can see what once was (possibly still is) the largest Canadian flag flying in the background.

Craigdarroch Castle

I've been visiting my BFF, Laini, in Victoria. Apparantly there is a castle in western Canada. So Amy and I decided to check it out while Laini was in school. It was used in the movie "Little Women".

I, of course, loved all of the bows used in the architecture.

Everybody's talking about...

The MET Costume Gala!

I thought Mary-Kate looked stunning. I love her dress, it's modern yet traditional. The lace is so cute and her hair and make-up look great. A big improvement over last year. The gold dress was acceptable, but it washed her out.

Ashley improved over last year as well. She looks a lot more put together. I don't hate either dress, but I don't love them either. This year's white gown is really pretty, but too big for her. She looks like she's drowning in it. But she gets extra points for it being her own collection.

Kate Bosworth always looks stunning. I prefer her 2008 look much better. Actually I'm totally in love with the dress she wore last year. All those sequins and colour!!! I will take colour over black any day.

Leighton took a risk and she rocked it. I love her outfit. I can't say the same for Blake's.

I think Rachel Bilson looks so cute and adorable, but appropriate for the Costume Gala, I think not. She looks like she's going out to just any premiere. But her dress from last year was fabulous. And she rocked the bangs.

I don't know what it is about boys and chunky glasses, but I just swoon whenever I see one. I've always been into the Clark Kent type. I'm not normally a big JT fan, but I am loving the new look.

Pretending To Like Hockey

I went to the local Irish Pub to watch yet another hockey game last night. That's TWO games in two weeks. I even kind of almost paid attention last night.

For awhile, "we" were actually winning 2-0.

This is Tina's sad face, as our beloved team (did you get the sarcasm there?) started to lose the game. They ended up losing 6-3.

I attempted to wear Canuck colours... unfortunately the colours are blue and green, not blue and red. I am a bad Canadian.

I'm excited about by my homework this week in one of my classes. I have to talk about the colour in the movie Pleasantville. Should be pretty easy. There were a few movies that we got to choose from and I've always liked Pleasantville. All the fluffy dresses and white picket fenses. It's funny how different people have different takes on things. I chose this movie because colour is practically it's own character, so it will be really easy to write about it. But another girl got "stuck" with it because that's all that was left after everyone else had chosen, and she was kind of upset. "How can I talk about colour in a black and white movie?"

April has been a great month. Unbelievably, we started off with snow, but almost every day since has been gorgeous. I finally got to wear my $3 mini skirt this weekend. I love the colours in it. They are so retro.

The only time I have ever watched an "idol" season was a few summers ago when I was living with my aunt. She was absolutely obsessed with all forms of idol and so we sat down every week and watched it together while drinking tea. My choice performer was Carly Rae Jepson. Her music was my favourite, but she was also cute, funny, and had amazing style. I remember having a crush on the outfits that she wore each week.

She didn't win, but she came in third place. And now she's coming out with her own album, so she's been on the radio constantly. Love it!

Another Day, Another Concert

I don't normally go to that many concerts; this week happened to be the exception. The Ting Tings were great. I love the red boots that Katie wore. Her style looks so effortless and comfortable, but still unique and awesome.

I had to repeat the butterfly shirt because it's not mine, so I need to get as much use out of it as I can get. It's amazing how wearing something flashy makes it so much easier for random people to start conversations with you.
Wearing: Shirt - Thrifted (Nessa's); Skirt - Smart Set; Belt - Thrifted; Shoes - Ricki's

Last night was the Britney concert... I don't know how to even begin to describe it. It was so many many things. Good, bad, crazy, boring, upsetting, entertaining, and on and on.

Am I upset? A little bit. I feel really bad for the people who paid crazy amounts of money to be there last night. It was disrespectful. Britney performed 3 songs and then there was a little video montage and some cirque dancers and then nothing. Five minutes later some set pieces moved, but then still nothing. After 10 minutes a voice came over the PA system explaining that there was too much smoke and the show would not begin again until all the smoke had cleared. After 30 minutes, the show finally restarted and continued as normal.

I do not for one second believe that smoke was the reason the show stopped. I am offended that that was the excuse that was used. Just because we live in Vancouver doesn't mean we are all potheads. It wasn't a pothead crowd either. Why didn't the ushers tell people to stop? Why didn't they tell us to stop right at the beginning of the blackout? The whole thing was ridiculous!

It was incredible how the crowd was not mixed at all. It's was entirely 18-25 year olds dressed in outlandish and slutty outfits.
Tina and I, very happy to be there at this point.
It was a good opening. I liked the Perez part. It was fun. But I feel like whole circus theme is just too much like Christina Aguilera's last album and tour. And it doesn't measure up either. Britney scored a point for actually doing it in a ring and getting Cirque performers, but she lost five for not caring about the show at all.
She's a ring leader, but I doubt she calls many shots.
This is Tina's "What the hell is going on?" face.
I think Britney might have actually sang "Everytime". I enjoyed the floating umbrella.

Didn't end up going on that hike today :( Went for a nice walk around the park instead with my friends and my dogs. We snuck over to the other lake. I haven't been there in years. And when I say snuck, I really mean snuck my dogs in. For some reason dogs aren't allowed on the trails.

Blazer - Value Village; Skirt - Smartset; Shirt - H&M; Tights - Icing; Shoes - Payless; Bow - Smartset; Extentions - Ardene's

The bow that started it all! My very first hair bow. I think I bought it because there was a deal if you spend a certain amount of money. I decided to put some really cheap ($2) pink hair extensions in because I like to pretend I'm a tween sometimes, lol. Really, I just think they are fun.

Off to Britney. Can't wait!!!
