April has been a great month. Unbelievably, we started off with snow, but almost every day since has been gorgeous. I finally got to wear my $3 mini skirt this weekend. I love the colours in it. They are so retro.

Another Day, Another Concert

I don't normally go to that many concerts; this week happened to be the exception. The Ting Tings were great. I love the red boots that Katie wore. Her style looks so effortless and comfortable, but still unique and awesome.

I had to repeat the butterfly shirt because it's not mine, so I need to get as much use out of it as I can get. It's amazing how wearing something flashy makes it so much easier for random people to start conversations with you.

Didn't end up going on that hike today :( Went for a nice walk around the park instead with my friends and my dogs. We snuck over to the other lake. I haven't been there in years. And when I say snuck, I really mean snuck my dogs in. For some reason dogs aren't allowed on the trails.

The bow that started it all! My very first hair bow. I think I bought it because there was a deal if you spend a certain amount of money. I decided to put some really cheap ($2) pink hair extensions in because I like to pretend I'm a tween sometimes, lol. Really, I just think they are fun.

Off to Britney. Can't wait!!!

Juno - the Awards, not the movie... Although, both were filmed in the same place.

I love that there were Mounties there.

A glimpse of the red carpet. Dhillon and I passed it as we went to pick up our tickets from will-call.

Jessie Farrell was the only celebrity to pass us on the red carpet, and this was the only picture I could find of her outfit. Trust me, she looked much better in person. She was also extremely nice. In fact, if she wasn't extremely nice, I wouldn't know who she was as I've never seen her before (but I do like her music). There were a few girls that were really excited to see her and one asked if she could take her picture. Jessie (oh, yes, we're on a first name basis now) was more than happy to pose and offered to get someone else to take the picture so the girl could be in it too. It was just a small thing, but it made me like her enough to put her picture up.

You can't really tell from this picture, but Nickelback is performing. Big suprise - I didn't hate it! I'm sure the fireworks helped my opinion of them. Our seats were very nose-bleed, but it was still fun.

Best performance award goes to City and Colour featuring Gordie Downie (of the Tragically Hip)... Not that you can tell who anyone is from this picture.

I think it's fairly obvious by now, that I am attracted to males with dork-like qualities. Don't let the glasses and bow tie fool you, Dallas Green is hardcore. I can't get enough City and Colour. Check out his myspace page and fall in love with Dallas' angelic voice. It's hard to believe that he also belongs to Alexisonfire. Nothing against them, except for the fact that they make my ears bleed.

I was so close to wearing my black sequin dress, but instead decided to go shopping. I'm glad to chose not to, since that seemed to be the popular choice. It did make me smile a lot seeing everyone decked out in sequins. I even saw a few black sequin dress repeats (worn by pseudo celebs).

And now for something more relatable... Thanks to west coast time, I was able to get home in time for Gossip Girl. Okay episode. The show just isn't as exciting as it used to be. Although, they always make me ridiculously excited for the next one.

I think this was the first episode where Blair wore an outfit that I didn't like. I don't hate it, but it's missing Blair flair.

Black and Blue

Dan Levy - I have to say, I think he wins the "Most Stylish Male" award. I love him. Despite my overuse of the word "love", I love him. Especially his glasses. Would he be Dan without his glasses? Probably, but it would take some getting used to. The glasses are really where the attraction lies. He has made me a fan of "The City"/"The Hills". Without him would I watch those shows? Nope, never. My friends often make fun of me because I tend to go for the nerdy, nice guy. I never got the attraction to the bad guy. Give me some spectacles and computer skills.

I have to admit, it's taken me awhile to come around to MTV Canada. At first I did not get "The Aftershow". My roommate used to be obsessed with "The Hills" and it just boggled my mind that a show exsisted to specifically talk about what happened in the previous episode.

I wish I still worked for MTV Canada. It is awesome now. It doesn't take itself too seriously and sometimes they even talk about music (gasp!). It kind of makes me sad when I think about it. No, I don't mean sad - I mean envious! My days at MTV were fun and I loved it, but the show/channel sucked monkey balls. It was just plain bad. Nobody watched it. Nobody had even heard of it. I would have much rather worked for this new re-incarnation. But alas, nothing about it is the same. It's not filmed locally anymore which is probably the reason for it's success... And the fact that it's on basic cable now.

And today's outfit looks like this: Shirt - DIY; Cardigan - Smart Set (guessing); Skirt - Vintage. Shoes - Payless (they have giant belt buckles on them that didn't show up). I'm thinking of adding some sequins to my skirt where the pokadots are. They are slowly but surely fading away. I bought some silver individual sequins awhile ago and haven't been sure what to do with them... until now.

I know this looks absolutely disgusting, but it tastes amazing. I am not a chef. I am not a very good cool at all, but I am going to compliment myself on my salsa. It's darn good. Laini's recipe, but I made it spicier. My first batch wasn't nearly as good as hers (still good, just not AS good), but hopefully this time I'll be able to compete (okay, not really a competition). The judging will be held during tonight's office party*. No actual judging will take place, since no one coming over tonight has tried Laini's salsa. Okay, maybe I'm a little bit too proud of my salsa. I have my reasons. I'm not really much of a salsa person, but I absolutely love tomatoes. If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be tomatoes, hand down.

*Office Party - Not an actual party. But every week that the Office is on, a bunch of friends come over and we all watch it together. It's been a ritual for the past two years. I love it. The people who come over consistantly change and sometimes there is just two of us and other weeks there are 15. The same thing happens with Gossip Girl every Sunday. I don't really like watching TV by myself.

I'm so excited about Sunday. The JUNOS!!! (Canadian version of the Grammys). Two of my friends bought tickets and then one of them backed out, so now I get to go instead. I've been scowering through my closet trying to find something appropriate. But nothing. I am going to have to give in and go shopping. Not exactly torture, but I've been trying to spend less.

I went for a really nice walk today with my dogs in the park behind my house. I'm so lucky to live where is live. My backyard is actually connected to the forest. It's so beautiful there. I'm so glad that the snow the weather is changing. Lately it's been pretty gross and yucky, so I don't get out there very often. But it's so beautiful. One of the lakes is still frozen. The other one probably is too, but I didn't make it over there.

I just got home from seeing an interesting play at my old college. It was about how horribly people with disabilities used to be treated. The play ("Imperfect") was good, but not the route I would have gone. It was interesting to learn about the old mental "schools. Although, I felt the play could have put in a bit more information. The message got kind of lost in the middle of random loud noices and moaning.

This is what I am currently wearing and wore to the play. Shirt - H&M; Skirt - Smart Set; Tights - Le Chateau; Everything else - Vintage. Most Expensive item would be my velvet blazer at a whopping $8.

Hair Bow Tuturial

Wearing: Skirt - Value Village Kamloops (bought yesterday for $3!); Turtle Neck - Winners; Belt - Mother's Closet; Necklace - No idea, I just remember I bought it 3 years ago for the Matt Dusk concert.


HAIR BOW TUTORIAL!

1. Do what you need to do to your hair. My hair is pretty flexible, so I rarely put any product in it.

2. Decide how much hair you want in your bow.

3. Tie off that section of hair. If you want the bow to be in the middle of your head, make sure you secure the elastic off to the side (as shown). And if you want it to be on the side, put the elastic in the middle of your head.

4. Fold your hair so that the ends cover the hair tie and pin in place.

5. Seperate a small section of hair close to where you want the middle of your bow to be.

6. Wrap the new section around the middle of the pinned section as many times as it will go.

7. Pin the middle part so it doesn't unravel.

8. Secure everything with bobby pins and you're finished!

All Things Green

I thought I would share some info on the new GG spin-off because a few people had questions about it. It's going to be about Lily's life in LA with her her older sister. Brittany Snow and Krysten Ritter star as the sisters - love them both... No Rufus yet. The pilot will air during the penultimate episode of this season of Gossip Girl (May 11) and then it will have it's own time slot in the fall. I'm really looking forward to seeing all of the excellent 80s wear.


My friends recently found a crimper and they have been trying to get as much use out of it as possible. Getting ready was a bit of a gong show. The picture is of Laini crimping my hair, while I am curling Nessa's, as she drinks. The train actually went a bit longer since Kiri (who took the picture) was doing everyone's make-up at the same time.

Wearing: Shirts - Nessa's 50 cent Butterfly shirt, and Joe; Skirt -Old Navy (bought specifically for 2008 St. Patrick's Day); Hat - Ardene's. I didn't start out with the Butterfly shirt on and I don't really like it with the outfit, but I was kind of forced into wearing it and how can I say no to sequins?

There were a lot of similarities between this year and last year. First of all both parties were at the homes of Beth and Nessa. Lot's of hand-made wall decorations, random crazy dancing, drinking games, and jello shots. But there were a lot of differences too. This year, everyone wore green. No hassle. Everyone was already excited about it. Last year, most of the party-goers had no idea about the holiday thus they wore a lot less green. Biggest difference would be that last year we were in Sweden, and this year Canada.

These are a few of my favourite green things that people were wearing. Beth's amazing feather head piece; Nessa's technicolour dream coat and her mint stockings; Janessa's scraf from a 7-up bottle since she had no other green.

My friend kiri bought this ring in Hawaii a few days ago. She got back from Hawaii yesterday and then drove up with me to Beth and Nessa's place (4 hours away). She's a travelling machine! Actually, that was her second trip there this year. We all went in the beginning of January. I may have to go back pretty quick to get one of these rings.

When I first arrived, I went up to Nessa's room to unload my luggage and noticed this scarf on her bed. Of course, as soon as I saw her, I had to compliment her on it. And then she revealed to me that it was actually mine. I was pretty excited about it. What a perfect day to receive it on too.

Lazy day today; I did a whole lot of knitting while watching The City marathon. Personally, I prefer the aftershow to the actual show itself. I have a huge crush on Dan Levy (it's the glasses). I wish the show had more fashion and less "non-drama". I also shovelled the drive-way because it SNOWED again. I'm so over this snow business.

FINALLY some Gossip Girl! I had my dear friends Amy and Dhillon over for the event (as we do every week). Part of the reason I missed GG so much was because I missed seeing them on a regular basis. The episode was good, but it didn't meet my too high expectations. I didn't realize the preview I had seen was for the rest of the season, so I kept waiting for a Blair breakdown that didn't really happen. But she did impress me with her wardrobe (as always)... and of course I love anything that is theatre related.

Does anyone know where else this dress was worn? I've definately seen it somewhere else, but I can't place it. Was it in another episode of Gossip Girl, or somewhere on the red carpet? If you know, please fill me in. It's just one of those things, like a song you can't quite remember.

I had an excellent Saturday night. My friend Par is moving away, so we had a going away party down town.

What I wore: Shirt - Suzy Shier; Tank - Ricki's; Skirt - Smart Set; Tights - Le Chateau; Necklace and Earrings - Icing; Flower - Ardene's; Belt - came with jeans.

A few of us left the suburbs and headed down town a bit early so we could meet up with a friend of mine from Ontario. We went to Cafe Crepe for dinner. Down town is so different than it was a year ago. There used to be only one Cafe Crepe, but now there is one on every block.

Two minutes after getting into the bar, Steph already had two guys offer to buy her drinks. Because she is damn hot! I loved her outfit. So classy.

Chris was really disapointed when the string on his little green hat broke, but with a little nail power, I was able to fix it... twice.

Dhillon, wearing the shirt I picked out for him. It makes me smile a lot when people like the clothes I force them to wear. We had a mini argument over him trying on this shirt when we went shopping a few weeks ago. I demanded that he try it on, even though it wasn't his size. And then he loved it. And so did everyone last night. At one point, he thought I was telling people to compliment him.

I was very impressed by Chase's attire.

Ever wondered what happens at the 25 Cent Peep Show? Well, first of all, let me tell you, 25 cents it is not! Minimum purchase $5.35. False advertising? Um, yes. Very upsetting. Jen left the club because she was curious as to what was behind the black curtain and decided to cave in and cough up the $5.35. She was given several "25 Cent" tokens. The peep show was actually a video of 80s porn. Sexy. She used a few tokens and then went back to the club to see if anyone else wanted to see a show. Steph and I decided to join her behind the curtain, but before we were able to see anything, the grumpy clerk informed us that we would have to pay again. He said that the sign clearly says "No Re-entry"; there was no such sign. We were very disheartened by the whole experience.

Despite not being able to view the Peep show, it was a very enjoyable evening.
